UPDATE: A Harrisburg homicide suspect was killed following a run-in with the police.

According to authorities, a Carlisle man is still at large after killing another guy in an alley in Harrisburg on Sunday night.

One day after Jhonny Torres, 25, of Harrisburg, was shot and murdered on the 300 block of Nectarine Street, 29-year-old Santiago Gutierrez was charged on Monday with murder and a firearms offense.

About 8:30 p.m., according to the police, Gutierrez shot Torres. At the scene, he was declared dead.

Compared to 13 at this time last year, Torres’ homicide was the 22nd in Harrisburg in 2024. There are still seven unresolved cases.
