According to authorities, a 25-year-old man was shot and died on Sunday night in Harrisburg, just a few blocks from the scene of another murder that occurred there last month.
According to police and the coroner’s office, Johnny Torres, a city resident, was shot at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the 300 block of Nectarine Street in the Allison Hill district of the city.
At the scene, Torres was declared deceased. No information regarding what transpired or if anyone was detained has been made public by the police.
Darius Stukes, 34, was shot and murdered on Nov. 2 at Hunter and Nectarine Street, three blocks away. Last week, Lateef Phoenix, 38, was charged with first-degree murder. According to the police, he picked up Stukes from his York home and drove him to Harrisburg just hours before the murder. Phoenix is still at large.
The number of killings in Harrisburg has increased from 13 at this time last year to 22 in 2024. There are eight unresolved cases.
