According to a press release, a 35-year-old inmate at the state prison in Camp Hill passed away on Wednesday following an attack by another inmate in the recreation yard.

Spencer Kassel, convicted of aggravated assault in Centre County, began serving a sentence of one to two years on December 9. After the attack, he was declared dead at 8:51 a.m., according to the press release.

It’s unknown if the other prisoner who participated in the assault has been charged. The name of the alleged murderer and any information regarding the circumstances leading up to the attack were not disclosed by prison officials. The death is being looked into by Pennsylvania State Police.

The Cumberland County Coroner’s Office will decide Kassel’s cause and manner of death. According to a news release from the Department of Corrections, his next of kin have been informed of his passing.
