According to authorities, a guy who was charged with homicide over two weeks ago in relation to the deadly shooting and robbery of a 38-year-old Harrisburg man in 2019 has been taken into custody.

According to Harrisburg police Lt. Kyle Gautsch, Cameron Lovett, 30, was taken into custody Saturday night in Florida following the ambush of Corey Crishon on May 16, 2019, after he left a convenience shop near 16th and State Street.

On January 23, Harrisburg police charged Lovett with homicide, robbery, unlawful firearm possession, and evidence tampering. Online court records show he has not been arraigned.

According to the police, Crishon was discovered with injuries to his neck and chest early in the morning in front of the City Gas convenience store at 16th and State.

According to a 2019 news release from the police, Crishon was shot several times while attempting to defend himself. According to the police, he ran away in the direction of the nearby business and collapsed until help arrived.

According to a Facebook Live video that a neighbor filmed and that PennLive reviewed, Crishon informed police that he was shot at around one in the morning by a wounded man on the sidewalk. At the site, Crishon’s firearm was discovered.

After being brought to a hospital, he passed away from his wounds.

Police said that Crishon has a valid authorization to carry a concealed weapon. He had three kids, a stable job, a long-term fiancée, and no criminal history.

The 28-year-old Dajoure Doughty, who was charged in May 2019 with Crishon’s murder, received numerous gunshot wounds in a hospital.

Doughty, who was waiting for someone to rob, confronted Crishon as he was making his way home after purchasing a few items from City Gas, according to the police.

In 2019, Jay Singh, the business’s convincing manager, attested that Crishon, a local resident, visited the store virtually every day, usually bought tobacco items, and played a game called Pennsylvania Skill there. Minutes before he left and was attacked, he had been playing the game.

Less than a week before Doughty was set to go on trial for charges that had been lingering for over five years, Lovett was charged. His trial has been postponed from its original date of January 27.

According to court documents,Doughty will now show up on April 21 for a plea hearing.

A narrative outlining the evidence police used to charge Lovett with homicide was absent from an affidavit of probable cause submitted against him.

While Gautsch deferred further inquiries to the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office, he told PennLive that more charges were filed in light of the ongoing investigation. A request for comment was not immediately answered by the DA’s office.

Crishon was a dedicated family man who had worked as a state cleaner on the night shift for 13 years. He liked to write and record music in his spare time, according to his relatives.

His son, who was in high school when the incident occurred, stated that in the summer of 2019, he and his father were planning a trip to Detroit, where Crishon had grown up. The son posted on Facebook at the time, “Instead, they took my pops.” It hurts me to know what it’s like to be fatherless now.
