A week after cutting former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick, the Los Angeles Chargers have added him back to their practice squad. After the Chargers signed Laviska Shenault last week, Fitzpatrick was cut; however, the Chargers quickly came around and signed Fitzpatrick again.
The Tennessee Titans selected Fitzpatrick out of Louisville in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. But after only two seasons, his time in Tennessee swiftly soured, and the organization moved on. After the 2022 season, he won a spot on the practice squad and was signed to a futures contract by the Steelers.
The 6-foot-1 native from Pontiac, Michigan, has a 40-yard sprint time of 4.47. He primarily plays outside due to his size as a receiver, but he has a lot of special teams potential that could land him in another locker room before the season is out.
Due to wide receiver injuries, Fitzpatrick was signed and promoted to the active squad, where he played the whole 2023 season. He chose to join the Chargers rather than go back to Pittsburgh after being cut out of this year’s training camp.
