Following their loss to the Houston Texans on Saturday, the Los Angeles Chargers signed former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick as one of their ten reserve/future additions.
This season, Fitzpatrick made one appearance with the Chargers as a special team player. For almost the whole season, he was a member of the team’s practice squad. After training camp, Fitzpatrick was cut by the Steelers and signed with the Chargers, where he demonstrated his worth for a position on an NFL team.
The Tennessee Titans selected Fitzpatrick out of Louisville in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. But after only two seasons, his time in Tennessee swiftly soured, and the organization moved on. After the 2022 season, he won a spot on the practice squad and was signed to a futures contract by the Steelers.
The 6-foot-1 native from Pontiac, Michigan, has a 40-yard sprint time of 4.47. He primarily plays outside due to his size as a receiver, but he has a lot of special teams potential that could land him in another locker room before the season is out.
