Legends Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams and LeSean McCoy of the Philadelphia Eagles are putting their money where their lips are.
Former University of Pittsburgh standouts McCoy and Donald, both from Pennsylvania, are friendly and betting heavily on the outcome of Sunday’s NFC Divisional Round playoff game between the Rams and Eagles.
The retired players, who have a combined total of 10 All-Pro and 16 Pro Bowl selections, wager $50,000 on each other. If the Eagles win, the Harrisburg native will receive the money, and if LA loses, Donald, a Pittsburgh native, will win the wager.
In a FaceTime video that was uploaded to Instagram and X on Sunday afternoon, McCoy disclosed the wager.
Will we place the wager that we have been discussing all week? McCoy uttered.
“Let’s wager,” says Donald.
McCoy claims he is waiting for Donald’s response and is betting $50,000 on the Eagles.
We will. I must match it. “Leave,” said Donald. I’m sick of seeing (you) doze off on the Rams on TV. Man, I’m sick of listening to all that.
At the moment, McCoy appears on FS1’s morning program, The Facility.
The 36-year-old McCoy was a brilliant running back at Pitt after being a Bishop McDevitt star. He was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2009 draft after graduating from college. He would go on to become a standout for the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia, among other teams. During his career, he rushed for over 10,000 yards, was selected to the All-Decade Team, and made six Pro Bowls.
Donald, 33, led Los Angeles to the 2022 Super Bowl LVI championship and is a 10-time All-Pro and one-time Super Bowl champion. After graduating from Penn Hills, he set a record by winning NFL Defensive Player of the Year three times.
At the age of 32, Donald retired on March 15, 2024.
The stakes are high. To end the video, McCoy remarked, “Let the better team win.” Additionally, I’m bringing you and E (wife Erica) out to supper after we win.
