Jefferson City Man Charged with Breaking into Home and Holding Baby Hostage – Full Report!

A Jefferson City man has been arrested after breaking into a home in Cooper County and briefly holding a baby hostage. The man, Jacob Johnson, is 25 years old and has been charged with several serious offenses.

On Sunday evening, the mother of the children called the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office. She reported that Johnson, who wasn’t supposed to be at her house, had shown up unexpectedly.

Johnson was violating the terms of his bond, which banned him from visiting the woman’s home due to previous charges related to domestic violence and child endangerment.

When deputies arrived, they found Johnson standing in the yard. But as soon as he saw them, he ran into the house and locked the door behind him.

Inside the house, the woman’s eight-month-old baby was present. Deputies could hear the baby crying and Johnson moving things around.

When deputies tried to enter the house, they found that Johnson had moved a refrigerator to block the door. After forcing their way in, they discovered Johnson locked in an upstairs bedroom, holding the baby.

Deputies were able to rescue the baby and take Johnson into custody.
