The grind is not something Jared Porter avoids.
He didn’t flinch after becoming a star at Central Dauphin East, he didn’t run in peewee football, and he definitely didn’t back down when he shattered his fibula during CD East’s season opener versus York High.
To make sure no one outworks him, the 5-foot-9, 170-pound running back gets up at 5 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.

Porter explained why he rises at five in the morning in order to improve by one percent. Sometimes you’re lazy, but that’s when you really make an effort.
Porter has been ready for life as a Division I athlete thanks to his 5 a.m. training sessions. Liberty, ECU, Towson, Temple, JMU, UNLV, Kent State, Bowling Green, UConn, Delaware, and West Virginia were among the schools that extended offers to him.
The CD East star’s efforts were rewarded on March 25 when he verbally committed to the University of Delaware.

Porter eventually signed his contract on Wednesday morning, solidifying his position as a Blue Hen, but he doesn’t arrive without putting in a lot of effort.
Porter told PennLive.com that it took a lot of effort and commitment. Although I am aware that many young people today are not interested in doing that, I have been grinding since my freshman year.
Porter’s efforts earned him a three-star ranking from Rivals and On3 Sports, recognition as one of the Mid-Penn’s top backs, eleven Division I offers, and the chance to commit to Delaware.
In the context of college football, Porter’s dedication is astounding.
High school athletes suffer because the transfer site and NIL are now the primary resources used to compile college football rosters. Knowing that there are more seasoned players in the gateway, programs accept fewer high school applicants.
Therefore, for a player like Porter, an injury could be the end of his opportunity. Ryan Carty, the head coach of Delaware, however, defended Porter.
Porter said that I was genuinely afraid to inform him. They didn’t find it too much, and they were understanding. When I told them, they stated everything was OK. Inform us of developments and provide us with updates.
Porter’s football career in high school is gone. Fortunately, he is in perfect health and is aware that the process is only getting started.
Porter stated that it was now time for the grind. I know where they want me and where I’m going to school. Thus, it’s now about working hard, being organized, getting ready, and proving myself when I get there.
The RB room has been upgraded with electricity. Jared, welcome to the Blue & Gold!Level Uppic.twitter.com/97X19yEn81 | @JaredPorter717
