Is Pennsylvania positioned to become the center of the country’s gnocchi production?
Pasta maker Il Pastaios will construct a 71,000-square-foot factory in Union County, Governor Josh Shapiro announced Thursday.
According to Shapiro, this initiative will generate at least 74 full-time jobs and more than $12.5 million for the local economy.
The Gregg Township plant will increase the company’s capacity to produce gnocchi in order to satisfy the rising demand in the United States.
The announcement, according to Shapiro, is proof that Pennsylvania appeals to foreign businesses.

According to the Shapiro administration, Il Pastaio will get up to $72,200 in tax credits through the Manufacturing Tax Credit Program in addition to a $111,000 grant for employee training.
The company will benefit from tax reductions because the Great Stream Commons business park is located in a Keystone Opportunity Zone (KOZ).
