Joann Fabrics, a longtime favorite fabric retailer, is closing some of its locations around the country.
Among these closures are two Pennsylvania-based locations.
As part of a regular shop placement evaluation and optimization, Joann Fabrics, a longtime favorite of tailors, seamstresses, and any other crafts people out there, has begun closing these locations, according to Retail Dive.
The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in March 2024, according to the same Retail Dive story. Shortly after, Scott Sekella, the company’s then-CFO, departed, and a number of new executives joined.
These closures, according to USA Today, include the Williamsport facility as well as the Hermitage location, as reported by WFMJ-TV. It is anticipated that both will close on January 19.
In an email to Retail Dive, Amanda Hayes, the company’s director of corporate communications, diversity, and inclusion, mentioned that the brand has also recently opened new and renovated stores, including in Minnesota and Montana.
