Penn State, which enters the week in 15th place in the Big Ten standings, is among several teams that still have room to rise if they can continue to win games. Since the calendar changed to league play, the Nittany Lions have had difficulty doing so; they have a 3-8 record in the Big Ten, with seven of those losses occurring in their last eight games.
Penn State will play Minnesota twice this month, including a trip to Minneapolis on February 22. The Lions will play three of their final four games away from home. Despite having the same 3-8 conference record, the Golden Gophers’ rated victories over No. 20 Michigan (84–81) and No. 15 Oregon (77–69) give them hope for a strong finish to the regular season.
