Ichiro Suzuki, a Seattle Mariners legend making his ballot debut, was the first of 28 nominees for induction by Hall of Fame voters. The other 13 nominees included Boston Red Sox infielder Dustin Pedroia, former Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees pitcher C.C. Sabathia, and former Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez. Billy Wagner, a former closer for the New York Mets and Houston Astros, is another well-known candidate to keep an eye on in his last year. He wants to increase his vote percentage from last year’s 73.8% to the 75% needed to be admitted to Cooperstown.
