A unexpected first of three duals between Cael Sanderson and Penn State’s top-ranked wrestling program is now scheduled to take place at the Bryce Jordan Center. With the women’s volleyball team scheduled to host a regional of the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championships at Rec Hall on Sunday, that announcement was made.
With a capacity of 15,261 as opposed to 6,502 at Rec Hall, Penn State’s wrestling team has moved to the BJC, giving fans more chances to witness the ranked-on-ranked action live.

Josh Barr, a 197-pound redshirt freshman ranked No. 23, defeated No. 6 Michael Beard via major decision 11-3, which was the high point of that bout. At 125 pounds, rookie Luke Lilledahl defeated No. 15 Sheldon Seymour 4-1 via decision to earn a rated victory as well.

Nine of the ten predicted starters for the Nittany Lions have top-10 national rankings, with Barr jumping from No. 23 to No. 7 in this week’s Intermat rankings. The sole outlier is Lilledahl, who is ranked No. 12 at 125 with a 5-0 record.
