Steven Sims, a wide receiver with the Pittsburgh Steelers, was cut by the Houston Texans on Friday. The Texans chose to promote wide receiver Jared Wayne from the practice squad, even though Sims has been with them for 12 weeks as their returner. Sims has fallen short this season despite a few injuries to the room.

Sims has not recorded a reception in his seven games as a player. He has 195 yards from seven kick returns and 99 yards from sixteen punt returns. Sims increased his offensive totals by one rush for zero yards.

From Kansas, Sims made his NFL debut and earned a spot on the Washington Commanders roster. After that, though, Sims was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, who used him as a slot receiver and returner in 2022.

Sims joined the Texans after they allowed him to walk in the summer. Since then, he has been a member of the team. Sims’ career totals include more than 1700 return yards, 78 receptions for 784 yards, and seven touchdowns.
