For nearly a year, a historic performance space in our area will be closed to make way for contemporary renovations.

The Hershey Theatre will close in early 2025 for renovations, according to an open letter from Donald C. Papson, executive director of the M.S. Hershey Foundation.

“The Hershey Theatre has been a cornerstone of cultural enrichment in Hershey since its opening in 1933,” Papson noted. We are thrilled to announce that the Hershey Theatre will shortly begin a significant one-year renovation project to modernize the space while maintaining its historical significance.

On January 20, 2025, the improvements will start, and they will last all year.

Improvements to the electrical and air conditioning infrastructure, improved Wi-Fi access, and rearranged parking lots are some of the noteworthy modifications.

According to the letter, the theater will return in early 2026 with a full Broadway season and a number of additional top-notch acts.

As we strive to preserve Mr. Hershey’s legacy by restoring this historic structure for the enjoyment of future generations, we sincerely appreciate your understanding,” Papson stated. We are appreciative of your ongoing support and eager to join you in commemorating the next phase of our history.
