Pittsburgh –Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. of the Pittsburgh Steelers is aware that a six-flag game might not occur again in his career. He has been flagged for more penalties than any other cornerback in the NFL this season, though.

That cannot go on. Following the team’s victory over Cincinnati, Porter expressed his belief that the referees were attempting to change his performance. Mike Tomlin, the head coach, attributed the penalties on some technique errors and a lack of confidence in his technique.

How does Porter want to resolve those issues, and is he still confident in his playing?

Porter remarked, “I still feel confident in my playing.” I’ve seen the footage, and I don’t see any men who have actually beaten me receiving a lot of separation. I simply need to work on myself in certain situations, and I know that I must improve. Ultimately, I want to be the best version of myself, and I know that in order to do that, I need to tidy up my actions. So I just keep working and deal with it head-on.

Teryl Austin, the defensive coordinator, reaffirmed that Porter is in excellent mental health and that there was no general worry about the fines.

To eliminate the many penalties, the Steelers must concentrate on his technique.

“Work is all that is required. The problem is that Joey is asked to do a lot of work. Although he may not be the top receiver, Austin stated, “we put him on the backside, sometimes one-on-one with the best receivers, but he’s the guy that’s not getting a lot of help.” It’s only a matter of returning to the lab and playing even if some days will be more difficult than others. One of the things I told him—and I always tell corners this—is that it’s always the next play because it doesn’t make sense to get caught up in your own thoughts and chase after something that happened a long time ago that you can’t repair right now. Let’s proceed to the following play.

Porter has internalized that message and won’t let it deter him from performing at his best.

Porter stated, “I don’t get knocked off my pivot, knocked off my game too much.” He is aware that I enjoy getting back up and proving myself again after setbacks. That’s my task on this coming Sunday, then.

In any case, Porter faces Jerry Jeudy this week for another test. Even though he doesn’t typically rack up flags against that kind of receiver physically, he still needs to work on his technique and overcome the habits that make him stack flags.
