Prior to playing football at Milford Prep this fall, the former all-state Harrisburg quarterback and defensive back had his PIAA appeal for eligibility rejected this past summer. On Wednesday, he finalized his plans to play football at the University of Pittsburgh.
He is thrilled to follow in the footsteps of former Pitt defensive backs like Damar Hamlin and Darrelle Revis.
According to Lee Jr., it’s exciting. I am absolutely thrilled about it. With all the wonderful people who attended Pitt and its wonderful traditions, I am very excited to start school. I can’t wait, therefore.
In January, Lee will travel to Oakland to join Pat Narduzzi’s program, where he will concentrate on playing defensive back. Lee will enroll early.
At Harrisburg, he was a standout quarterback and cornerback who guided the Cougars to three straight District 3 titles and a 2022 6A state championship game. His focus will now be solely on locking down receivers and hawking the ball.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge,” Lee Jr. remarked. The cornerback position is challenging in and of itself, in my opinion. I believe I’ll be able to make an impression on the defense end of the ball by simply applying the leadership skills I developed while playing quarterback in high school.
The three-star cornerback is enjoying playing on an island, which is a must of the position, especially in Narduzzi’s defensive scheme.
You are undoubtedly in a position to make plays and be a fantastic athlete thanks to [Narduzzi’s defense].
He is a descendant of Shawn Lee Sr., his father, who was a standout defensive back at Penn State from 1996 to 1997.
Lee Jr. stated that it has been a major objective. I’m constantly hearing throughout the city about my dad’s success as a college ball player and how good he was, and I know that eventually I might be just like him.
Thus, it feels as though all of the effort has paid off. And almost like my dad.
