Kymir Williams described his signing with Saint Francis on Wednesday as a “dream come true.”
And although that might be the case for him, it is more of a nightmare for the teams that are on the Red Flash schedule. Because here’s the thing: despite being only 5’11” and 180 pounds, Williams is a concern because of his mobility and ability to come up and smack opponents in the mouth.
“I think that physicality stems from my upbringing and my constant aggression as a football player,” he remarked. And I believe that Jesse Harr, the defensive coordinator for Harrisburg, was the source. On the football field, he is constantly talking about being aggressive and adopting a dog attitude.
As a freshman, Williams was able to play for Harrisburg, one of the top programs in Pennsylvania, thanks to that hound mentality.
He claimed that, in contrast to all D1 players, I was the youngest player on the pitch. I just discovered early in training camp that I needed to be more aggressive.
Williams claimed that the strategy Saint Francis presented to him before the game was to employ his abilities more like a nickel linebacker. On one play, he might be up in the box, ready to hit someone, and on another, he might be covering receivers.
The way he wants it.
“This is what I dreamed about,” he remarked. This is the moment I’ve been waiting for. The only thing left to do is lock in and go all out.
Williams, who helped Harrisburg go to the 6A state quarterfinals this past season with 44 tackles and two interceptions, stated that he intends to immediately return to the gym to start getting ready for college football.
But he talked about more than just football. In addition to being interested in real estate, he stated that he is excited to study business in college. And he claimed that his time in Harrisburg made it all possible, especially with that promising future ahead and the ink drying on Wednesday.
“I can say with certainty that we had a historic run,” he remarked. But it wasn’t just me. There was no other place I would have like to be than competing with my brothers. Those guys were unique, and I will still miss them. Even though I didn’t win a state championship, those four years of high school football were the most enjoyable I’ve ever had. It was all I could have ever imagined.
“I had a great time at Harrisburg,” he stated. We made the most of it, and I’m now anticipating Saint Francis.
