Over the holiday break, Greenwood participated in the Warrior Run girls’ basketball tournament and competed for a championship title.

The Wildcats would lose to Lewisburg in the title game and finish in second place.

Greenwood played a match versus Warrior Run, the hosts, to start the day.

The club scored 16 points in the first quarter and came out fired up. Danica Zurenko had two two-pointers and two free throws, while Sylvia Gantt scored two points. Bekah Brinser had three twos and Georjean Rickard got two points.

In the first quarter, the Wildcats struggled with free throws, going just two for seven.

Greenwood once more maintained double digits in the second quarter, with 13.

Zurenko had a two and a free throw, Morgan Hale had a two, Jayden Brosius scored a three, and Gantt had a two and a three-pointer.

At the half, Greenwood’s offense and defense were both playing well, giving up just five points.

The Wildcats took the lead and held onto it in the third quarter, scoring eight points. Brinser made a two and two free throws, Isabel Amey had two free throws, and Zurenko hit a two.

In the last quarter, Greenwood scored nine points to seal the victory.

With 11 points, Zurenko led the attack, and Brinser came in second with 10.

By giving up just four points in the third quarter and one in the fourth, the Wildcats demonstrated their defensive prowess throughout the second half as well.

After defeating Lewisburg 46–10, Greenwood advanced to the title game.

Maddy Weller, Sylvia Gantt, and Georjean Rickard started the offensive attack with two points each and a free throw from Rickard for a five-point total.

The Wildcats reached double digits in the second quarter after a few extra players joined the offense.

Morgan Hale had two points and two free throws, Bekah Brinser had two points and a free throw, and Sophie Myers and Rickard each scored two points.

With 15 points in the first quarter and 10 in the second, Lewisburg got off to a little faster start and scored double digits in both quarters.

After scoring 16 points in the third quarter, the Wildcats were only able to muster four points in the fourth.

In the 46-36 loss, Hale and Brinser scored the most points (10 apiece).
