Mike DeFabo of the Athletic reports that George Pickens, a wide receiver with the Pittsburgh Steelers, arrived late for the team’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas.

Pickens arrived 35 minutes late on Christmas, after the inactives had already been announced, despite Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin’s rule that all players must report at least two hours prior to each game.

Players are asked by Tomlin to arrive for games at least two hours prior to kickoff. An hour and twenty-five minutes prior to kickoff on December 25, Pickens entered the media area. “That was following the announcement of inactive players,” DeFabo wrote.

Throughout the season, Pickens has been entangled in controversy. The Steelers are still in a difficult position because Pickens is the lone standout wide receiver on the team, despite even head coach Mike Tomlin acknowledging that Pickens needs to mature.

It is up to the Steelers to determine whether it would be in their best interests to pay Pickens. If not, when they need to address the position this offseason, they may try to determine his future with the organization.
