Dez Fitzpatrick, a former wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is making his debut with the Los Angeles Chargers as they attempt to defeat the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 18. Fitzpatrick was promoted from the team’s practice squad after playing with the Chargers for the most of the season.
Although he was discharged at the conclusion of his training camp, he spent the entire time with the Steelers. Fitzpatrick then joined the Chargers when the Steelers decided not to bring him back. Fitzpatrick is playing in his seventh NFL game overall.
The Tennessee Titans selected Fitzpatrick out of Louisville in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. But after only two seasons, his time in Tennessee swiftly soured, and the organization moved on. After the 2022 season, he won a spot on the practice squad and was signed to a futures contract by the Steelers.
The 6-foot-1 native from Pontiac, Michigan, has a 40-yard sprint time of 4.47. He primarily plays outside due to his size as a receiver, but he has a lot of special teams potential that could land him in another locker room before the season is out.
