Ta Quan Roberson’s incredible collegiate football experience is still going strong.

Roberson’s decision to transfer was initially revealed by Pete Nakos of On3 on Tuesday. The formal transfer window will begin on Monday, December 9. The Orange, New Jersey-born quarterback played for Kansas State in 2024. Since this was his sixth season of collegiate football, he will probably require a waiver granted by the NCAA in order to play the following season.

In 2019, Roberson began his career at Penn State as a four-star freshman. Before being thrown into action for an injured Sean Clifford at Iowa in 2021—a top-five game in which Penn State blew a first-half lead—he appeared in just two games throughout his first two seasons. The Roberson-led offense only managed three points in the second half as a result of the Kinnick Stadium crowd noise, which contributed to numerous false starts.

Following the season, Roberson transferred because Christian Veilleux became Clifford’s main backup. After making six appearances at Penn State, he went to UConn after recording 11-for-29 passing, 85 yards, one score, and two interceptions.

In 2022, Roberson started his first season as a Husky, but he was injured in the first game of the season, which ended his career. Roberson, who remained healthy in 2023, completed 58.3% of passes for 2,075 yards, 12 touchdowns, and six interceptions.

This offseason, he joined Kansas State, where he serves as starter Avery Johnson’s main backup. In his four games, Roberson completed three of seven passes for eighteen yards and no touchdowns. He did show some bravery by briefly replacing Johnson on the first drive of the second half in the Wildcats’ 31-28 victory over Colorado. To move the gears and sustain a drive that resulted in a touchdown, Roberson completed a 13-yard throw on third down.
