MADISON, WIS. (AP) — A shooting occurred Monday at a private Christian school in Wisconsin, killing five people and injuring others, including the youngster who started the attack, according to authorities.
When the number of fatalities increased from three to five, Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes was addressing reporters. He stated that additional people were hurt in the shooting at Abundant Life Christian School but did not provide any information on the victims.
According to Barnes, the responding police officers did not discharge their weapons.
On Monday afternoon, the school’s surrounding roads were shut by police.
To support local law enforcement, agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives have arrived on the site.

According to its website, Abundant Life Christian School is a nondenominational institution with over 390 students enrolled in kindergarten through high school.
