After four years in the NFL, former Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Dan Chisena made his first reception. Bryce Young threw a six-yard pass to Chisena, who was called up from the Carolina Panthers practice squad. After four years, Chisena’s efforts paid off, as he played on special teams in addition to playing a few offensive snaps.
Chisena, a standout on special teams, was not selected in the 2020 NFL Draft after graduating from Penn State. From 2020 to 2022, he was primarily with the Minnesota Vikings. In 2023, he attended training camp with the Steelers but was not selected for the team.
He has since played for the Panthers, Baltimore Ravens, and Arizona Cardinals. He has 13 tackles in 33 games during his career, including a fumble recovery. This season, he has participated in two games.
Chisena participated on both the football and track teams while attending Penn State. He only saw minimal offensive action, but his 4.3 40-yard dash at Penn State pro day caught the attention of some NFL scouts.
Despite only catching three passes for 58 yards during his final season with the Nittany Lions, his exceptional speed and special teams skills have allowed him to remain in the NFL to this day.
