The richest man in the world is under scrutiny again, just days after Elon Musk was chastised for allegedly making a Nazi salute after Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States.
Musk made a string of Nazi jokes on his X platform this time.
Don’t respond negatively to charges of Nazism! He penned it. There are those who will goebbels anything! Give up Goring your adversaries! He/Himmler would be his pronouns! I bet you saw that coming, Nazi.
The jokes were denounced by the Anti-Defamation League, which supported Musk after he saluted.
ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt stated, “We have stated hundreds of times and will reiterate: the Holocaust was a singularly evil event, and it is improper and offensive to make light of it.” The Holocaust is serious business (Elon Musk).
After what happened on Monday, Musk’s decision to voluntarily return to Nazi rhetoric did seem strange. After the swearing-in, Musk thanked the audience before doing what many recognized as a Nazi salute by putting his palm to his breast and thrusting it in the direction of the crowd.
We will reiterate what we have said hundreds of times before: the Holocaust was a uniquely horrible occurrence, and it is disrespectful and improper to trivialize it.The Holocaust is serious, @elonmusk.oeXLod2C1W https://t.co/oe
He said it twice more before saying, “My heart goes out to you,” as he turned back to the microphone.
Following the incident, Musk called the claims that he did a Nazi salute “dirty tricks on X” and denied them.
Additionally, the ADL wrote that it was a delicate situation and defended him.
The ADL posted on X that, “We appreciate that people are on edge, but it appears that (Elon Musk) made an awkward gesture in a moment of enthusiasm, not a Nazi salute.” Everyone involved should take a minute to breathe and provide each other some grace, if not the benefit of the doubt. This is a fresh start. In the upcoming months and years, let’s hope for healing and strive for unity.
That bit of grace seems to be running low now.
