We received a preview on Wednesday of the injuries the Eagles will be dealing with as they get ready for their game against the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans on February 9. The Eagles will have their first practice before Super Bowl LIX on Thursday in South Philadelphia.

The Eagles listed seven players as out due to injuries in a practice assessment, with wide receiver DeVonta Smith being the most recent addition.

Before the NFC Championship game against the Washington Commanders, quarterback Jalen Hurts was included on the injury report due to a knee problem, making him the most conspicuous omission from the list. He sustained the injury during the third quarter of the Eagles’ victory over the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round.

Smith, meanwhle, has a hamstring problem. Prior to the Eagles’ victory against the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round, he was listed as having a back ailment. However, Smith missed games against the Rams and Baltimore Ravens in Weeks 12 and 13 due to a hamstring issue, so this is absolutely worth watching.

It should come as no surprise that center Cam Jurgens and left guard Landon Dickerson were listed as injured.Dickerson, who replaced Jurgens at center during Sunday’s victory over the Commanders, is coping with a knee issue. When the Eagles won, he was unavailable for comment.

Despite not being able to start against the Commanders due to a persistent back issue, Jurgens was able to replace Dickerson after halftime on Sunday. Following the game, Jurgens declared that he will be prepared for the Super Bowl.

The tight end Due to an ankle injury sustained during the Eagles’ divisional victory over the Rams, Dallas Goedert was reported as out of practice for rest. He provided a team-high seven catches for 85 yards, and the injury did not prevent him from playing in the NFC Championship.

Along with offensive lineman Brett Toth (knee) and defensive tackle Moro Ojomo (shoulder), running back Kenneth Gainwell was also listed as out after suffering a concussion against the Commanders.

Wide receiver Britain Covey (neck) was listed as a limited practice participant, while running back Saquon Barkley and wide out A.J. Brown were listed as resting. It was encouraging that Brown was only listed as resting on Wednesday because he had been struggling with a knee issue since Week 16.

QB Patrick Mahomes, who has been battling an ankle injury since a Week 15 game against the Cleveland Browns, was one of five players on the Chiefs’ injured list. Along with safety Byron Cook (quad), running back Kareen Hunt (quad), lineman Jawaan Taylor (knee), and cornerback Jaylen Watson (ankle), Mahomes was labeled as a full practice participant.

Prior to their flight to New Orleans on Sunday, the Eagles will practice on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
