If wide receiver DeVonta Smith is unable to participate on Sunday, the Eagles’ passing offense may have trouble against the Baltimore Ravens.

Smith’s hamstring injury makes him doubtful to play in the Eagles’ Week 13 game against the Ravens. Due to the same injury, he was also unable to play in the Eagles’ Week 12 victory over the Rams.

The organization has also ruled out rookie wide receiver Johnny Wilson, one of Smith’s possible replacements, for tomorrow’s game. The Eagles would need third-year player Britain Covey and youngster Ainias Smith to step up in Smith’s possible absence, while Jahan Dotson, the team’s number two wide receiver, would need to perform better.

A.J. Brown, a wide receiver, caught six catches against the Rams secondary last week for 109 yards and a touchdown. Brown can defeat opponents without Smith’s assistance. However, Brown might be the focus of the Ravens defense, which would require another pass receiver to get open more frequently.

More targets might be available for the Eagles’ tight end corps. Dallas Goedert, the starting tight end, has not produced impressive numbers in seven of his eight games this season and only caught four catches for 19 yards against the Rams.

Goedert shown in the Eagles’ Week 3 victory against the Saints that he can be the team’s main pass receiver in the absence of Smith or Brown. In a game against the New Orleans defense, he caught 10 receptions for 170 yards.

Grant Calcaterra, the backup tight end, is also a good pass catcher. To relieve pressure on inexperienced players like Ainias Smith and get their best playmakers on the field, the Eagles might deploy two tight ends and an additional 12 people.
