When playing the Ravens, Blankenship sustained a concussion. He was replaced in the third quarter by backup safety Tyrin McCollum, who ended a Ravens drive on fourth-and-eight by intercepting a ball. Against Carolina, McCollum would also take Blankenship’s place.
During a punt return late in the fourth quarter, Covey injured his neck. Cooper DeJean, a rookie cornerback, replaced Covey for seven weeks (Week 4–Week 11) this season and is expected to do so again against the Panthers.
Goedert might not return to the Eagles’ tight end room until the postseason. For the following five weeks, C.J. Uzomahand, a backup tight end,It might be necessary for Grant Calcaterra to play a number of snaps.
Goedert suffered a hamstring injury earlier in the season that kept him out of action for three weeks (Weeks 7-9). Calcaterra did a good job filling in during that time, completing with three starts and nine catches for 93 yards.
On Wednesday, Uzomah joined the 53-man Eagles roster.
