The Boston Eagles’ quarterbackIn Sunday’s 24-19 victory over the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium, Jalen Hurts’ stats were not very impressive. For 118 yards, a touchdown, and a quarterback rating of 93.8, he completed 57.9% of his passes. But the Eagles improved to 10-2 because to Hurts’ timely throws and lack of turnovers, particularly in the second half.
He played like a quarterback who manages games on Sunday. That was acceptable to Hurts and head coach Nick Sirianni, who emphasized that Hurts’ play—including Sunday’s game—helped them win the game and should be considered for a major honor.
Sirianni addressed the game-manager term at his postgame press conference, which may have negative overtones because top-10 quarterbacks in the league are not usually assigned this label.
Sirianni remarked, “You’ll say game-manager, and that’s all b******.” Jalen had a fantastic game. He was 11 of 19 for 118 yards, according to his numbers, but that guy scored when he needed to. In order to reduce the clock and employ as much time as possible, he handled the game in four minutes (offense) and made good checks.
Hurts should be considered for an award that running back Saquon Barkley and Hurts’s teammate, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, are presently being cited as possible winners, Sirianni continued.
Saquon Barkley gets MVP consideration, and Jalen Hurts deserves MVP consideration because of how clean he is playing football, Sirianni added, even if Jalen hasn’t thrown it much in the fourth quarter over the last month and a half and his stats won’t indicate it.

Hurts grinned and thanked Sirianni for her remarks, but he quickly returned the attention to the team’s accomplishments.
Hurts remarked, “I appreciate his intentions with it.” I love Coach for that, but I’m more concerned about winning. My main goal is to complete the tasks necessary to support this team’s victory.
The Eagles’ eight-game winning streak has corresponded with their reliance on a run-focused strategy since their bye week. Hurts hasn’t tried more than 30 passes in a game during that time. He has completed 68.6% of his throws (118 of 172) for 1,564 yards, 10 touchdowns, and one interception, earning a passer rating of 114.1 despite the lighter workload.
For the Eagles to succeed, Hurts’ ability to defend the football has been essential. His role in the team’s attack is cemented as he keeps up his contributions as a runner, especially in situational plays like run-pass options and quarterback sneaks. The Eagles haven’t been down late often, but he might still be expected to throw 35 or 40 times in a game. In that case, he will have to step up, and he has proven that he is capable of doing so. Against the Carolina Panthers, who have been performing better lately, including in their 26-23 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Hurts might also find himself in the similar scenario the following Sunday.
