The city of PhiladelphiaIn order to assist replace Dallas Goedert, who sustained a knee injury during the Eagles’ 24-19 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, the team signed veteran tight end C.J. Uzomah to their 53-man roster on Wednesday.

According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Goedert might be put on short-term injured reserve. In that case, he wouldn’t be able to play again until Week 18 after missing four games.

The backup tight end and UzomahGoedert will be replaced by Grant Calcaterra. Despite Goedert missing three weeks (Weeks 7-9) due to a hamstring injury this season, the Eagles’ offense continued to play effectively.

Calcaterra finished with nine catches for 93 yards during that time. In the first 13 weeks, he has averaged 12.7 yards per reception.

In the summer, Uzomah agreed to a one-year contract with the Eagles.

Uzomah was a free agent for two months after failing to make the 53-man roster for Philadelphia in August before joining the Eagles’ practice squad on October 10.

For the final three games, the Eagles activated Uzomah, which is the most times a player from the practice squad can be used.

Against the Ravens, Uzomah, who has mostly been employed as a blocker, played 20 snaps. Uzomah made a significant block against Baltimore in the fourth quarter, according to Eagles coach Nick Siriannis.

The Eagles also re-signed veteran wide receiver Parris Campbell to their practice squad. In an indication that wide receiver DeVonta Smith is nearing a full recovery from his hamstring ailment, the Eagles cut Campbell on Monday.
