With a quarterfinal victory over 12-1 Boise State in the Dec. 31 Fiesta Bowl, Penn State, now 12-2 after 14 games, has a chance to advance to the Final Four of the college football playoffs.
The 1973 undefeated team (12-0), the 1986 undefeated national championship squad (12-0), the 1994 undefeated team (12-0), and the 2024 team are the only four Penn State teams with a 12-game winning streak.
These Lions would have more wins in a season than any other squad in program history if they defeated the Broncos. Additionally, PSU is a prohibitive favorite over Boise State.
James Franklin recorded his 100th victory at Penn State on Saturday as the Lions defeated SMU 38–10 at Beaver Stadium. His career record is 100-41.
It wasn’t a good day for the quarterbacks because they had to play in bitter cold and wind.
Two of the three interceptions that SMU’s Kevin Jennings threw were returned for scores by PSU defenders Tony Rojas and Dom DeLuca.
Drew Allar gained 127 yards by completing 13 of 22 throws. Allar later acknowledged that he missed a few throws early. On Saturday, Allar stated, “I missed a lot of throws in that first quarter.” I have to get the ball to the players in space so they may demonstrate their skills.
Allar has completed 237 of 346 passes (68.4%) for 3,021 yards and 21 touchdowns so far this season. Allar has scored six runs as well.
Allar was questioned about his ability to win big games at Penn State and whether the SMU victory was considered a big win after the victory. In addition, Allar was questioned about Franklin’s ability to win important games and whether the Lions program’s performance versus the Mustangs had sent a message.
Allar, who has declared that he will play his fourth season at Penn State in 2025, had a lot to say.
Allar declared, “I don’t care what people think of me, my team, or my coach.”
Ultimately, our procedure is our procedure. The people who work in the building on a daily basis and are aware of what goes on behind the scenes are the only things that matter.
Coach Franklin receives a lot of unfair criticism, and he has accomplished much more than most people realize.
It’s obviously special to be a part of his 100th game win and to be the team that managed to give him that victory. It’s really unique to have it at home in Beaver Stadium and on a stage like the playoffs.
In addition, Allar stated: “We don’t take these moments for granted, but ultimately, I don’t care what people think of me from the outside just because I saw a quote.” Why, for example, would you accept criticism from someone you would never seek counsel from? I kind of remember that.
Many individuals are unaware of the inner workings of the business, and it is what it is. Playing at a school like Penn State involves this.
Once more, we must be steadfast and adhere to our procedure.
