After closing last month, a diner in central Pennsylvania quickly reappeared.
Under new ownership, the former John’s Diner, located at 146 Sheraton Drive off Interstate 83 in Fairview Township, York County, reopened as Beacon Hill Diner on November 26.
The restaurant was taken over by Steve and Nicole Tawadrouse, who also run the Squeaky Rail Diner in East Pennsboro Township. According to Nicole Tawadrouse, the pair saw the old John’s Diner as a chance to grow their company.
In 2015, they launched Squeaky Rail in the old Summerdale Dinerin.
The neighborhood next to New Cumberland is the local reference for the name Beacon Hill. According to Nicole Tawadrouse, the menu is wide, offering stir-fries, steak and seafood entrees, and a $3.99 breakfast.
Not many adjustments were made by us. “All of the classics are still here,” she remarked.
Following feedback from previous John’s Diner patrons, the pair stated they preserved the diner’s well-liked soup and salad bar while expanding it to an unlimited offering.
Nicole Tawadrouse stated, “We don’t limit their trips if someone walks in and wants a salad bar.”
Any dinner ticket also includes access to the soup and salad bar. Classic soups include split pea, pepper pot, chicken noodle, and chicken orzo.
Among the dozens of other menu dishes are meatloaf, gyros, sandwiches, wraps, Benedicts, and Italian classics. There are also senior citizen deals, which include a complimentary dessert.
The diner is open every day from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m.
