PerformerIn an effort to assist families who are facing the high expenses of cancer treatments, James Van Der Beek recently announced that he is selling his signature Varsity Blues clothing.

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the 1999 sports movie, the 47-year-old Varsity Blues alumnus posted on Facebook and Instagram on November 22 to announce that he is collecting money for those causes.

Last week, the celebrity published a photo of himself cradling a football while sporting a blue jersey that was a duplicate of the West Canaan Coyotes’ uniform, the same one his character in the film, Jonathan Mox Moxon, wore.

Drop of merchandise! Van Der Beek captioned the photo, “I’m excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of #VarsityBlues with a limited edition #4 Moxon jersey, each one personally autographed by me.”

Van Der Beek’s website sells both autographed and non-autographed jerseys.

The Dawson’s Creek alumnus disclosed that he had been diagnosed with colon cancer, which prompted the fundraising campaign.

In a statement to People, he stated, “With the help of my amazing family, I’ve been dealing with this diagnosis in private and have been taking steps to resolve it.” There is cause for optimism, and I am in a good mood.

Olivia, Joshua, Annabel, Emilia, Gwendolyn, and Jeremiah are the six children that the actor and his spouse had together.

In a Thanksgiving Instagram post that included his family, he also discussed his diagnosis.

“This year has been difficult, and I am grateful for everything,” he said.

Because cancer has put a huge obstacle in my way. In ways I could never have asked for had I not been living through it, he said, “for the gift of knowing what it feels like to have friends come through on such a profound level.”

He went on to say, “I’m more thankful than ever to my superhuman wife who has shown up on levels I never knew possible.” He has taught me the magic of unconditional love and what it entails. @vanderkimberly, you have my admiration. Of course, I’m also incredibly grateful to the small army of blond hearts who, simply by being you, keep me inspired, engaged, and present. I adore you all so much.”
