This week, a man from Cumberland County was convicted of sexually abusing a preteen in a string of increasingly severe cases that occurred in 2020 and 2021.
Three counts of child rape, two counts of involuntary deviant sexual contact with a minor under the age of 13, and several lesser charges were found against Raymond D. Nattress, 46, of the 1200 block of Rossmoyne Road in Lower Allen Township, by jurors.
According to Lower Allen Township Police, the girl’s initial admissions to psychiatric counselors in March 2021 revealed the abuse.
The 12-year-old girl said in follow-up forensic interviews that spring that Nattress had coerced her into having oral intercourse with him and had used a variety of sex devices on her. The youngster said that the abuse took place in her bedroom.
According to reports, the incidences took place between August 2020 and February 2021.
Nattress was taken into custody by Lower Allen Township Police in February 2022. According to her LinkedIn profile, she has experience working as an information technology consultant.
Katie Maxwell, Nattress’s court-appointed lawyer, contested the victim’s veracity during this week’s trial before Judge Albert H. Masland by citing mental health records in which the child once admitted to lying.
However, on Thursday, jurors returned a unanimous decision.
Following the verdict, Masland directed Nattress to be committed to Cumberland County Prison, where he will be detained pending sentencing on March 11 in lieu of $500,000 bond.
