Nowadays, few stars in country music are as well-known as Lainey Wilson, and despite her early efforts to keep her personal life private, people are focused on her connection with Devlin Duck Hodges.
Naturally, Wilson and Duck have been together long enough for her to repeatedly imply that she is prepared for him to pop the question. Duck is a former quarterback who was a darling of Pittsburgh Steelers fans.
This leads us to this week and Wilson’s Instagram picture showcasing her Grammy-worthy attire.
She posted a carousel of pictures and a message on Instagram to get ready for Grammy Week.
Gosh gosh (love emoji) (flame emoji), Duck said in a reply, “This is how you look in white?”
That may seem harmless enough, but followers on social media who have been closely monitoring this relationship seized the opportunity. Many merely replied with remarks indicating that they believe his remark might be hinting at the fact that the couple is engaged and has already scheduled a date. Others urged Duck, if he hasn’t already, to initiate contact.
One individual said, “You will see more if you put a ring on it.”
Could I take pictures during your wedding? Someone else inquired.
There were many more remarks similar to those.Wilson’s post and those are available here.
Wilson has previously alluded to her readiness to permanently lock down Duck, and in a recent interview, Jelly Roll’s wife, Bunnie Xo, brought up the subject once more.
According to Taste of Country, Bunnie informed Lainey that she was bringing about the couple’s 2025 wedding.
Don’t worry, my brother! Gazing into the camera, Wilson said.
In an August interview with Taste of Country Nights, Wilson also discussed marriage in relation to her song “Counting Chickens.”
“As far as I know, you ain’t bought a diamond/ You ain’t sat my Deddy down and asked if it’s alright / I don’t mean to jump the gun on perfect timing / But if you brought up Vegas I’d be on a plane tonight,” Taste of Country noted in the song’s lyrics.
She claimed that Hodges loved the song because, in the conclusion, I say, “One chicken, two chickens, three chickens—oh shoot, I think that’s a duck that’s just for him.” The newspaper asked whether Wilson was making fun of Hodges.
The tune complimented the former Pittsburgh passer, according to Taste of Country.
But what about marriage?
Wilson stated at the time, “I guess I’m going to have to propose to his (expletive), because he hasn’t proposed to me.”
According to Wilson, she believes that commitment will probably only need to occur at the appropriate moment.
She told Taste of Country, “I think it needs to be during a season of our life where we really have the time to enjoy it.” The current situation would be, “Oh shoot, I’m engaged.” Alright, let’s go on.
All I want is to be able to fully absorb it.
According to Wilson, their romance began while Hodges was still playing for the Steelers.
He was still playing with them when we first met, but then everything changed, she stated. It seemed strange, then. It seemed as though we were moving in different directions and that his life was changing at the same time as mine.
Wilson informed Lowe that they had a fast-paced romance.
Hodges joined the Steelers as a free agent in 2019 after going undrafted out of Samford. He made multiple starts throughout his tenure with the organization through 2020. Before ending his career, he played for the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League in 2021 and signed with the Rams in the same year.
He had 1,063 passing yards, five touchdowns, and eight interceptions at the end of his NFL career.
