One of the rising talents in country music, Oliver Anthony is also one of the most unusual.
Anthony, for example, isn’t exactly aiming for stardom. Rather, he recently disclosed that he intends to leave the sector and enter the ministry. Additionally, he revealed some of his thoughts in a recent video.
In the 15-minute recording, Anthony vented his frustrations about the industry.
According to Anthony, these management firms and label-type individuals will utilize the phrase “Create a moment” while discussing their ideas. To make it appear as though a moment occurred, they would like to have three or four things occur simultaneously on social media and in other locations. Afterwards, it inspires individuals and puts them nearly in a trance, and they are curious about the occurrence.
As we discussed, when Richmond was released, it outperformed other songs that had millions of dollars spent on marketing, he stated. We discussed how many businesses will purchase their own songs regardless of how often they appear on the charts. They will purchase their own song for a million dollars in order to propel it to the top of the charts and attract attention. All of these are only systems. They aren’t always bad. It’s just a business strategy that they have adopted and implemented; it’s not like there are some terrible individuals sitting around trying to figure out how to get you to listen to a particular kind of music.
According to Anthony, every time he visits Nashville, he is struck by how frightening this new period is—where anyone can simply show up with a phone.
He said, “It’s like they definitely try to figure out how to build a character around you that fits what they want and makes you cool after they get you in there.” And you just feel so much friction from it the moment you walk outside of it.
After that, he bemoaned the way business leaders would put off projects they didn’t like.

“I’m just back to doing my own thing again after six, eight, or ten months of being stalled, manipulated, and kind of put down and discouraged to say things that I wanted to say,” he stated. I suppose I don’t need a group of Nashville coffee drinkers and nerds to advise me how to proceed with my life. I suppose I made the error of depending on those individuals rather than on God and the ones I trust.
He wasn’t finished.
According to Anthony, a coworker wanted him to write a dumb post on Beyonce’s country album, saying it was good despite the fact that it was utter garbage.
He went on, “Trying to listen to the beginning of her version of Jolene makes me want to throw up.” It makes me cringe. The fact that a Beyonce rendition of Jolene can be released and anyone can listen to it and not consider it to be nothing more than pure (crap) garbage is a testament to how degenerate our culture has become. In the hopes that we would collaborate on a song, I was to publish something essentially attempting to identify myself with Beyonce.
The Rich Men North of Richmond singer has stated that he still intends to compose music while entering the ministry, but it appears that he dislikes the music business, which explains his desire to leave.
