Originally from South Carolina’s Lowcountry, Darius Rucker first gained popularity there with his band, Hootie & the Blowfish.
Rucker went on to become a country music sensation, which has worked out well for him. However, he recently made a decision that isn’t particularly country.
literally.
Rucker’s representatives announced his transfer to London to The Post and Courier, his hometown newspaper in Charleston, South Carolina. Rucker reportedly moved to the UK to inspire new creative pursuits and perform for audiences throughout the world, although he still has a property in Charleston and plans to visit, according to the article.
Rucker first hinted at the relocation on Instagram with a picture of his two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels taken in London.
He wrote, “So Freddie, Larry, and I are doing something.” Can you guess?
“I can’t move to London and not play UK shows!” the 58-year-old tweeted with a photo from a concert on January 29. Have your tickets arrived yet?
According to the Post and Courier, Rucker will perform in London in March and in other UK cities in September and October.
The good news for his fans is that he intends to continue performing in the United States despite the change, according to his representatives, who spoke to The Post and Courier.
