According to Taste of Country, country music icon Jeannie Seely is in sorrow for her husband, Eugene Gene Ward, who passed away at a Nashville assisted living facility on Friday.
Born in Titusville, Pennsylvania, Seely posted two images of the sunrise on her Facebook page on Saturday along with the caption, “Gene’s first morning in Heaven.”
On December 11, Seely, 84, said that Ward’s cancer had returned.
She stated, “Gene asked me to call 911 on Thanksgiving morning because he was having chest pains and was having trouble breathing.”
“They also confirmed that cancer has returned at St. Thomas Hospital,” she continued. He is now receiving care at Lifecare in Old Hickory, and the staff there is wonderful. Shane, Kevin, and Gregg, his sons, are the greatest. We would appreciate additional prayers. I consider Gene Ward to be one of the most incredible men I have ever met, and I consider myself extremely fortunate to be his wife.
In 2010, Seely and White tied the knot.
In response to the news on Facebook, her friends and followers offered prayers and best wishes.
