In response to a query regarding Greg Newsome, George Pickens stoked controversy during Sunday’s Steelers vs. Browns game by claiming he had no idea who he was.
Regarding Newsome, Pickens stated on Friday, “I don’t even know who that is.”
Following Pickens’ remarks being criticized in the Browns locker room on Thursday by cornerback Martin Emerson, who claimed he didn’t appreciate it, safety Grant Delpit expressed his desire to make Pickens awful and harm his team.
But in response to Pickens’ most recent remarks, Newsome had plenty to say. Pickens was indirectly portrayed by Newsome as a self-centered athlete who harms his own squad.
“I am totally focused on the team,” Newsome stated. He is clearly a self-centered individual, as evidenced by the consequences he inflicts. It’s my responsibility to do everything in my power to support the team’s victory. For me, there will never be a one-on-one conflict. Trying to assist my squad in winning is my battle. That’s what he does all the time. I will never find a man who could inspire me in any manner.
Newsome continued by saying that he didn’t give a damn about Pickens and that his only concern was getting his side to win so that Pickens could sulk in the one-on-one situations.
“No man will ever be able to stimulate me in any way. Only if you genuinely care about someone would you consider something they say insulting. Therefore, I don’t give a damn about what he or anyone else has to say. I don’t care about the guy at all, so I don’t consider that disrespectful,” Newsome stated.
Pickens’ hamstring ailment makes him doubtful to play. Pickens appears to be preparing for a physical confrontation with Newsome and the Browns cornerbacks, and if he plays, this game will be a highlight of the day.
