After adding Laviska Shenault to their practice squad, the Los Angeles Chargers severed their relationship with former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick. After training camp, Fitzpatrick was cut by the Steelers and signed with the Chargers.

The Tennessee Titans selected Fitzpatrick out of Louisville in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. But after only two seasons, his time in Tennessee swiftly soured, and the organization moved on. After the 2022 season, he won a spot on the practice squad and was signed to a futures contract by the Steelers.

As a gunner, Fitzpatrick would gain a spot on the active roster. He was unable to maintain his roster position this offseason, though, and the Chargers signed him in his place.

The 6-foot-1 native from Pontiac, Michigan, has a 40-yard sprint time of 4.47. He primarily plays outside due to his size as a receiver, but he has a lot of special teams potential that could land him in another locker room before the season is out.
