PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Florida Panthers 4-3 on Monday night after twice coming back from behind thanks to two goals from Noah Cates.
For the first time this season, Philadelphia had multiple power-play goals in a row, led by goals from Morgan Frost and Garnet Hathaway. The Flyers won their second consecutive game with 20 saves from Sam Ersson.
Uvis Balinskis and Sam Reinhart both scored goals as Florida suffered its sixth defeat in nine games. There were 25 saves for Sergei Bobrovsky.
In the third period, Cates scored twice: once on a breakaway and once on a power play. It was his first multigoal game since his debut year in April 2022 and his second overall.
After trailing 2-0, Philadelphia tied the score, lost the lead once again, and then scored twice later in the third period to take the lead for good.

Panthers: Reinhart scored multiple goals in back-to-back games for just the second time in his 11-season career, and he recorded his sixth multigoal game of the year. In Florida’s loss to Boston in overtime on Saturday, Reinhart also scored twice.
Flyers: In his last 15 games, Cates, who centers the Flyers’ third line, has scored eight goals and provided six assists.

The Flyers had previously overcame one deficit and were soon behind again when Jaime Drysdale and Matvei Michkov made successive passes that led to Frost’s goal, tying the score at 3-3. The Philadelphia power play is among the worst in the NHL.

This season, the Flyers have fought back from behind seven times to earn at least one point after falling behind after two periods. They are tied with Vegas for the most wins in the NHL after winning six of them, including Monday.
