After Sunday’s game, Carly, the wife of Cleveland Browns guard Wyatt Teller, criticized Pittsburgh Steelers supporters for their actions, calling them outright rude and embarrassing in comparison to any other location she had ever visited.
“Today’s Pittsburgh supporters treated me and the Browns females with such obvious disdain. Never in my life have I been so insulted by someone I done nothing wrong. She said on X, “Very sad/embarrassing behavior.”
Steelers supporters yelled “Cleveland sucks” at the Browns during the game, particularly in the closing minutes. Several Browns players, especially Myles Garrett, were offended by that and vowed to use it as motivation for the game the next year.
At a press conference on Monday, Wyatt addressed the grievances and stated that he is aware of the positive effects rivalry has on people. He anticipates the animosity to surface because there is real hate.
Teller said, “You can say whatever you want as long as they don’t spit on my wife, expose themselves, or put their hands on a woman.” You have to realize that’s what you’re going to get when you’re in a hostile situation like that. To say, “Oh, you’re just the wife, it doesn’t matter, I hate you,” is not appropriate given how long this rivalry has existed. The Dog Pound can become a little boisterous, but I hope our fans are a little better. I’m not ignorant of the fact that his rivalry is so old that you have to realize it’s hostile.
By the end of the fourth quarter, the Cleveland stinks shouts were coming from the stands after every big Steelers play, and the Browns had fallen 27–14. In any case, it is not surprising that the Steelers and Browns have a lengthy history of animosity for one another given that they have faced off since the beginning of football.
