MECHANICSBURG Stone Saunders, who already holds the record for most passing touchdowns in Pennsylvania, will set one more state record to cap off his remarkable high school career.

With a 30-yard touchdown pass to Dominic Diaz-Ellis in the third quarter of Friday’s PIAA Class 5A championship versus Roman Catholic at Cumberland Valley’s Chapman Field, Saunders surpassed 13,562 career passing yards. Saunders needed 131 passing yards to reach the milestone going into his last varsity game.

Last year, Steel-High alumnus Alex Erby broke Brett Brumbaugh’s 2014 record of 11,084 throwing yards, setting a new record of 13,562 yards.

On the Pa. High School Football Report podcast, Saunders discussed his career accomplishments, national signing day, and his pursuit of a second state championship before Friday.
