With Mike Tomlinat leading the team through a terrible six-game postseason losing run, the Pittsburgh Steelers have plodded along with the same core they have had for several years at this point, and the team appears to be stuck in neutral.
What then has to occur in order for things to change? Bill Cowher, the former head coach of the Steelers, believes it is time for the team to take stock of its situation and make some difficult but necessary adjustments.
“That football team, players, and coaches probably need some changes,” Cowher stated. At the moment, that will remain with them for a very long time. They didn’t actually lose. The way they lost is the problem.
For the first time in a long time, there are concerns about Tomlin’s future in Pittsburgh, and the whole national media looks perplexed by the Steelers. He will return, but considering the overall drawbacks of having him in charge, is he the best candidate to guide the Steelers into the future?
That answer seems more likely to be no the more postseason losses pile up and the more questions remain. There won’t be any significant roster or coaching changes, but the Steelers will make some adjustments.
