NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — A Nashville high school reported that at least two students were injured by gunshots on Wednesday, but that the issue has been contained, according to authorities.

April Weatherly, a spokesman for Metro Nashville Police, was unable to immediately give information regarding the health of the people who were shot at Antioch High School.

Weatherly, who was unable to quickly determine whether the shooter was a student, said that it is thought that the gunman shot two pupils before shooting himself.

Parents are being asked by school officials not to pick up their children at the high school. Instead, they were instructed to visit a local hospital. When the police release the students from the school, they will be bussed there.

In an email, FBI spokesperson Elizabeth Clement-Webb stated that the Metro Nashville Police Department, which is in charge of the investigation, was contacted with inquiries from the FBI in Nashville. She didn’t say right away whether the FBI had been called in to assist with the probe.

Nashville residents have been thinking about school shootings a lot. Three 9-year-olds and three adults were killed by a shooter at The Covenant School, a private Christian elementary school in the city, in March 2023.
