Among North American government leaders, Minnesota has been caught in the crossfire of international trolling.
In his remarks, President-elect Donald Trump has suggested that the United States should annex Canada, impose taxes on its goods, and use economic pressure to force Canada to join the union.
Premier Doug Ford of Ontario was considering his territorial gains after that.Ford made a joke in an interview with a reporter on Monday: “I’ll make the president a counteroffer. What if we purchase Alaska and simultaneously add Minnesota and Minneapolis?
You can’t blame him for considering North Star State. The majority of its 547-mile border with Canada is shared with Ontario. Minnesota and Minneapolis are frequently listed as some of the greatest locations to live, and the accents are similar.
It’s a clever idea, according to several Redditors. Some people enjoy the idea of free health care in Canada.
One person wrote, “It’s nice to be fought over.”
Thankfully—or regrettably—Ford is aware that Minnesota and Canada are here to stay.
“It’s not feasible,” he stated. I am aware that Trump enjoys joking about and making these remarks. I’m serious about that. He might be kidding, but that will never, ever occur while I’m in charge.
