According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Arthur Smith, the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has declined the position of head coach at North Carolina. Although Smith acknowledged that North Carolina made a preliminary call for the position, he is not interested in the opportunity to be an NFL head coach again after this season, according to Rapoport.

Smith’s old mater, North Carolina, made the decision to let go of Mack Brown following this season. Smith, who appeared to say he would decline the position when questioned about it on Thursday, will not be that successor, though.

In actuality, [UNC] made contact during the initial call. Thank you; I adore that location. But I’m not interested in that. I currently hold one of the greatest football jobs. There’s also a lot to say about how happiness, both personal and professional, cannot be valued, which is what I have here. Appreciate that place and love it. However, it is typically the case. According to Smith, some tales spiral out of control once people cast a wide net.

At least until the end of the season, the Steelers should anticipate having their offensive coordinator. Smith does not share that passion, thus there is no smoke behind the North Carolina job offer.

The Steelers may have to undergo another offensive coordinator search if Smith is hired by another team, which may cause problems if he does receive interviews with NFL head coaches.
