Midway through a performance of A Christmas Carol on November 24, veteran stage actor Julien Arnold passed away unexpectedly at the age of 60 due to a medical problem.
He died after collapsing onstage during an evening concert at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It was an unexpected tragedy.
Earlier this week, the Citadel Theatre’s official Instagram page issued a poignant post announcing his passing.
We regret to inform you of the untimely death of Julien Arnold, a cherished performer and close friend of the Citadel Theatre, the post stated. Julien was a beloved part of the Edmonton theater community. He was a talented and charismatic performer who adorned our stage in numerous plays, such as A Christmas Carol.
The statement said that Julien’s family, friends, fellow Carol company members, Citadel employees, and the Edmonton city, whom he loved so much, were deeply saddened by his demise. Every role was made more joyful, heartfelt, and nuanced by his presence, and his artistic contributions and warm embraces will be sorely missed.
The theater asked its supporters to respect Arnold’s family’s privacy during this trying time as the statement came to a close.
The reason of death has not yet been disclosed.
According to Kerry Williamson, a spokesperson for Alberta Health Services, CBC News reported that Arnold suffered a medical emergency on stage while he was portraying Mr. Fezziwig and Marley in the play. Despite paramedics’ attempts at resuscitation, he passed away at around 8:28 p.m.
The actor, who previously starred in productions of The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Once, will be honored during the remaining performances of A Christmas Carol, the theater said on Instagram due to his passing.
