A Missouri woman thought she had won $5,000 in the lottery, but her excitement grew even more when her co-worker pointed out that she had actually won a much bigger prize.
The woman, from St. Charles, decided to buy a 500X scratch-off lottery ticket during her lunch break.
She had originally planned to buy a different ticket but changed her mind when she saw that the game she wanted had fewer tickets left.
After scratching the ticket during her break, she was thrilled, thinking she had won $5,000.
She was ready to celebrate, but a co-worker who looked at the ticket noticed something she missed—a multiplier symbol. This symbol turned her win from $5,000 to $50,000.
Her co-worker said, “You better rethink! That looks like $50,000 to me.” Surprised by the discovery, the woman clutched the ticket and exclaimed, “Oh, my God!“
The 500X game she played costs $50 per ticket and offers 50 prizes of $50,000. There are also three top prizes of $5 million available in the game.
St. Charles, where the woman lives, is located about 25 miles from St. Louis.
